hi what sort of respone do you have out of the yellow pages fed up with the price going up each year for the same ad getting to the point where i'm in 2 minds weather to place a new ad or leave it and see if i still get same amount of work or place a bigger ad in colour.
what do you guys do in the way of advertising?

I'm finding a Yellow Pages 'corporate ad' within the IoPHE box reasonably worthwhile. I've had about 25 responses since January, which works out at around £6 per response -- not too bad, and there's still three months to go.

hi i've not joined th iophe as din't know if its worth the money. but having to have a look at construction line as most of the contracts we are looking at are now requesting that you are registered with them. so trying to cut my costs a little. as genral public work is drying up a little due to comanys cutting prices to get work some thing i won't do.

A year or 2 ago I went with yellow pages, directory, phone and online. As I was a newish company I went for a smaller advert and it cost me £700 for the lot. Rubbing my hands together thinking this was a get rich quick scheme....Wrong!!! I had enough calls the whole year to pay for the advert, dripping taps, outside taps, the usual jobs that nobody else wants to touch.
So in the end I didnt renew my advert with them and set up a website instead, cost me £30 for 2 years. I have had more work come through the website than yellow pages could ever give me and only a small price to pay. Put on the website a gallery now every other call about a job is bathroom suites.
I shyed away from the gas work and instead opted to do bathroom and leadwork services as 9 out of 10 plumbers are corgi whereas a 1 in 10 do leadwork. So guys in my opinion webpages are the way forward and yellow pages can be used to allow short guys to kiss taller girls ( yellow pages tv advert)

Hope this helps

I agree with steve we advertised in yellow pages in march and by july we had got enough work for the year almost and the ad had already paid for itself. But dont touch yell.com.
