Re-routing ductwork after installation may be difficult.
Inlet/outlet room grills are difficult to re-locate if renovating a room – similar disadvantage to radiators.

Wet rooms need to be treated carefully at duct design stage to avoid re-circulating odours.
Unless a total renovation, warm-air is generally more difficult to implement in existing properties.
The system balance may be affected when windows are left open with the sensors not sensing representative temperatures or humidity.
Plenum chamber ductwork may be bulky, resulting in design and duct accommodation challenging in some implementations.
Rooms may be slightly pressurised which may result in sealed doors difficult to open. This is also a problem with MHRV systems.
