vaillant ecotec plus boilers

I am currently renovating my house with the environment in mind. I have been told by a plumber that the vailliant ecotec boiler range would be a good choice. They do seem quite expensive but will that be off set enough by the money I should save in bills as well as them being more eco friendly?

ecoTEC is no more efficient than other band A boilers.

We fit them, they are a nice product. The best thing you can do to lower energy usage is to zone the heat, and insulate the house.

with the ecotec put it on weather compensated system using the vrc 450!!

it will make a massive difference in comfort environment and money

most people set the heating curve at above 2 but i believe it should be at 1.75


Simon what about omitting the zone valve on a weather comp system and maintaining the thermal value of the house with the temperate difference between on and off maintained at around 3 degrees!!

surely this better than trying to heat up a section of the house at a time

I think you mean the VRC430? Difficult to keep track of all the different model numbers.

The response curve is absolutely reliant on the quality of insulation in the property. In an older house you might need 2.4, in a 1980s house maybe 1.9, and a new build Part L compliant air tight house, 1.5.

The size of the radiators versus the space heated will also affect the response curve, there is no 'correct' blanket setting, other than in theory two new Part L insulated houses should be the same.

Don't understand you question regarding the zone valve, I'm afraid.
