Nearly all boilers are less efficient when over-sized and output should be carefully matched to demand. Condensing boilers are much less affected by over-sizing than conventional boilers. Below 30,000 Btu (approximately 8.5kW) a condensing boiler may still be appropriate but the payback will be longer. In the end it's a question of balancing the costs and the savings
