I have just moved house and found that my HW cylinder is not being heated properly. It has a indirect exchanger that is on its own vented 22mm loop connected to a Potterton Flamingo 50s boiler. It also has a cold water feed from its own header tank. Next to where this cold feed is tee'd in to the loop, is a 2-port valve (actuator missing) and is in an open state. The loop is vented via a tee on the other side of the exchange coil back to the header tank. the boiler shuts its self down after a minute of firing up, therefore not enough time to heat the exchanger sufficiently. i believe the gravity might not be sufficient as its header tank is only 2 foot above the HW cylinder. please correct me if I'm wrong, put would an improved flow improve rectify the problem. If so, would a pump help matters and would there be implications to the vent or cold feed? Can anyone advise before i seek a plumber to visit?
Many thanks Peter
