I have posted this on other forums so apologies if you pick it up again. I am trying to work out why my hot water is fluctuating in temp. When the hot tap is turned on fully the gas fires up as normal and by the time (20 secs) that the water is getting warm , the gas turns off for 10 secs (during that time the water is getting warmer) then it comes on again and water gets cold, then repeats this cycle.
I have been told it is the diverter valve because after about 1 minute the CH flow 22mm pipe on the left starts to get very hot. Is this likely?
It seems perverse that the water gets hotter when the gas goes out and cools down when it is on. |

Thats the typical sympton of sludge causing a poor transfer of heat from primary to secondary water.
