I want to put a shower cubicle in my bathroom and am wondering what sort of head I need for the supply.

My hot water system is fed from a tank in the loft and the water level in the tank would be 4 or 5 feet above the shower head from which I would feed both hot and cold through a thermostatic control valve.

I do not want to use a pump on noise grounds.

Would this be sufficient head for an effective shower? I could raise the tank in the loft is there a minimum height?

What valve is recommended?

Thanks for any replies.

Mike

it all depends on the shower you buy and what the minimum running presure required is.

if by an affective shower you mean a fairly decent jet then probably not, you would have to check the manual to check optimal working preasures.

it would be easier to install a pump rather than move your tank and at least your gaurenteed to have a fairly decent power on the shower.

If you use 22mm pipes and a valve like a MIra 88 designed for very low pressures you can get as good a flow as you'd get from an electric shower, if not better. Adequate by most people's reckoning.

Avoid obstructive things like stop cocks, use full flow ball valves
