Suprima 80 heat exchanger probs?

Woke up this morning to be greeted by a nice puddle on our worktop under the boiler. Opened the boiler up and there's a leak from the top left of the heat exchanger. Waters dripping from what looks like a seal ie a large hole with s disc of metal, much like and oil/water seals that you see in a car engines.

Onto the questions, can this seal actually be repaired, maybe welded or does it mean I'll have to have the heat exchanger replaced and where and how much do you think this beast will cost?

Well I'm sort of going to answer some of mh own questions, the metal disc is called a core plug, these can be changed but I'm not too sure how feasible this would be with the heat exchanger and no it can't be welded as the core plug is made of steel and the main exchanger is cast iron.

Still would like some useful info if anybody has any.

Looks like the core plugs can be changed, just need to find out the diameter required, pull the old one out and hammer the new one in.

Sounds easy but the only real problem I have is I've got no idea what size they are so can anybody out there help?

Also the boilers stopped leaking yesterday so may well carry out the repairs when the weather get a bit warmer.

EDIT: People may be wondering why I'm going to these extremes, well the simple answer is I'm loathe to give Potterton any more of my monies especially as I too had the problem with the dodgy PCB within the first year of having the boiler and which Potterton kept on giving me any old excuse till they came up with the sorry it's now out of warranty. I actually repaired the PCB myself in the end once I found out what the problem was. If I can't repair the heat exchanger then I'll opt for a new boiler and again I won't be giving my money to Potterton, never again.
