Employee stole customer

We had a job putting in a new header tank and pipe work for a lady who was refitting her bathroom suite, she told us that her son in law was fitting the bathroom suite but wanted us to put in the pipe work, well i got a call from a guy who accused one of my employees of stealing his work,he explained that he wasnt the ladys son in law but was doing her bathroom suite until my employee offered to do the work for her on the side for £800 which she had deducted from his bill. It is quite annoying as the lady was a customer of ours and our employee rather than getting the work for the company took the work for himself, the job was only to fit a new shower and new bath and we would not have charged £800, now she is demanding a guarantee for the work he carried out, in my eyes this employee has stolen a customer from us.
