Hi, I'm trying to remove an old headgear assembly and intend to replace it but I can't get a grip on the nut. Any tips?

Turning the nut's the easy bit - 3ft Stillsons would rip the tap off without noticing. Holding the rest still, can be more of a challenge.
Heat might reduce the torque required.
