Hi - can anyone help with this one: My external stopcock has broken in the open position, yet I need to turn it off to replace some lead piping leading up to the internal stopcock. Thames water have a 6 month waiting period for a new one!! Someone suggested a freezing technique - anyone know of this? And will this technique withstand mains water pressure? Cheers, Graham

you can freeze mains water but the water must be still for it to work effectivly. any movement of water in the main can make it very difficult to freeze.
