When the cold water faucet is turned on there is a supply of water for a very brief period but then it runs out almost immediately. I have plenty of hot water when the hot water faucet is turned on. I'm thinking it could well be a air block but am not really sure. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

Your kitchen tap is direct mains fed.
Check with your neighbours to see if the pressure has dropped or maybe even turned off o/s due to works
