i know im being vague, but would it use more energy to have a electric shower, or a bath filled by a combi boiler?

The bath is more hot water so more energy.

Electricity costs more per kWhr, so it's down to the size of the bath and the bath and the duration of the shower, and those relative costs, if it's the money you're really asking about.

Thanks Chris i thought so,

It comes down to electricity costing more than gas but because you use less it works out cheaper.

if you have a combi boiler why would you want a electric shower. the combi even the smallest turns out arround 9lts of hot water you would not get that from an electric shower. the combi is instantaneous just the same as the electric shower. I would have a shower valve instead
