The accreditation for someone who is ‘competent’ is a 5 day course, 1 day of gas safety refresher info, followed by 4 days accreditation.
The Corgi web site http://www.corgi-gas.com/ confirms that an ACS accreditation will be a minimum of 2 days, plus 1/2 days for each specific area of certification (cookers, central heating, instantaneous heaters, etc).
Corgi offices are based at Basingstoke.
It also advises that for people 're-training for a career change' that an
NVQ should be done first.
Bottom line is you can only get on the Accreditation course if you have:
1) minimum 5 yrs trade experience (self declared but needs references), or
2) an NVQ or City & Guilds.
The NVQ is a part time day course, but is self paced training, normally takes candidates around 2 yrs to complete.
