Natural gas is a mix of methane and hydrogen (plus a small amount of sulphur); air is mostly oxygen and nitrogen. Hence CH4 + H2 (+ S) mixed with 0 + N becomes H2O + CO2 (+ H2SO4 +NO + NO2). H2SO4, as every school boy knows, is sulphuric acid, but this is only a pH of around 3.5 which is the same as tomato juice
