|
|
Am having my upstairs bathroom redone and currently have a power shower which we very much like, this is fed via the hot and cold tanks.
For the occasions where somebody in the family needs an ad-hoc shower we'd currently have to heat the water before.
Mira do a 9.6kw electric power shower which is cold water fed only. What would the pressure from this be like, I've read things like rubbish to vary on water pressure according to cold input water temps etc..
Now really what I want is a shower that uses the hot and cold but would heat up the water should there be no hot water. Does such a unit exist? |

Hi,
The easiest way to have hot water at the touch of a button is the electric shower as its performance has no bearing on the central heating system you have in place. If you have a gravity fed system i.e. have a water tank, then the hot water can and will run out, not to mention you will have extremely low pressure for a mixer shower and therefore the electric shower is the best way forward. In the event that you have a combi boiler then there is always hot water in the house and there is also pressure in the system which means you can get a nice mixer shower (which can look nicer than electric showers) and this feeds directly into the water system with both a hot and cold water inlet.
Bottom line is that if you have a gravity fed system then stick to the electric shower for hot water as it is the shower that dictates how the water is pumped and providing the socket can cope with 9.6 KW then you'll be fine. Mira are a good brand but you also have Triton and some new and stylish showers in the Triton Inscriptions range which look very sheek. Take a look http://www.iq-living.co.uk/icat/bcg_web_04_04_03?curpage=2&bsref=bcg IQ Living seem to have a preety big stock of electric showers from all the big names so should be a few other options to consider if you need it. If you want a mixer shower then you'll probably need a shower pump to boost it but again you can get these on IQ Living.
If you have a combi boiler then the choice of shower is up to you to be honest and you can go for some really cool gadgets with remote controls but again you can check out the IQ site for all this http://www.iq-living.co.uk/page/home.
Hope this helps. |
