They do vary, but usually you can push one of the buttons fully down and use your fingernail or a screwdriver to hook up the other button till it comes right out. Then withdraw the first button. If there's a screw (usually plastic) visible, unscrew it and remove the whole assembly. If not you can often unscrew the assembly by gripping the outer edge and turning anti-clockwise.
