All,
Hoping for some advice from you guys! One of my mates has just moved into a flat and is having some problems with his central heating. Hot water is fine and heats when the hot tap is turned on. When the central heating is turned on the boiler fires and rapidly heats up (the temp lights) until it overheats and cuts out (15 seconds or so). Feeling the flow pipe from the boiler the hot water does not seem to be being pumped from the boiler. There are no warning lights by the way.
As part of the faultfinding I helped him to remove all of the rads one by one to flush and clean the system in case it was sludged up (using the filling loop as the source). The whole system (rads and pipework) was flushed and is in good working order.
The boiler is still kettling. Any ideas what this could be or what he could try next?
Any help appreciated!

Its more likely to be calcium compound scaling in the primary heat exchanger!

An update guys.......
Removed a small cartridge type filter, was pretty clogged up, so cleaned and replaced. This gave a dramatic improvement. All seems to be working ok for the moment. Ordered a new filter to be on the safe side.. |
