Can anyone tell me the point of the part L course.Ive just done it and passed with flying colours but not sure what it entitles me to do apart from fill in benchmarks. I was told I would be able to certify my own work and do offical heating surveys but was not told how to do this on the course.can anyone advise me.I was also told on the unvented i could certify my own work but found out this is not true building control still has to be informed.

thanks ant

It seems the course tutors have not properly explained the situation to you.

The unvented system IS self certified but you still have to inform Building control but they would not normally require to inspect it.

The Part L entitles you to install a heating system. Most will also require CORGI or OFTEC registration as well if a boiler is involved.

The CITB has unilaterally decided that all its G3 for life qualifications will be cancelled and has written to everyone.

They have probably 95% of all the G3 but its unclear what the other certification organisations like the IPHE are going to do about.

There is a lot of resentment about this because the sylabus has not changed and nor have any of the many regulations so there is no need for any retraining.
