Hi,
we've just moved into an old house that needs a central heating system installed. We have no gas and have discounted LPG due to cost and the restrictions around tank location.
We were thinking of having an outdoor oil combi boiler installed as we like the infinite hot water aspect of combi boilers. However, I've just found out about electric boilers. How do the running costs of these compare to oil and are 'combi' versions available?
Thanks
Nick

If you have a problem with the tank location for LPG then you will have a problem with the tank location for the oil.
Calor do some good deals for new customers, with bulk tank supplies you will pay 21.9p per litre for the first year, this will increase by 2.5p per litre a year until the full price is reached which currently stands at 32p per litre

Is the heating LPG the same as the motor car LPG ?
What stops someone with LPG heating putting it in his car and avoiding the fuel tax?

Hi all,
Thanks for the responses. The main thing with the LPG tank is 3m for a boundry and only one hedge. Also, the driver must be able to see the lorry etc. The oil installers we've had around have been fine with siting the tank next to the garage.
Does anyone have experience of these http://heatandplumb.com/acatalog/Trianco.html ?
I'm also interested in their running cost compared to oil. I think that we're going to need 24kW or so.
Thanks once again.

Definitely go for oil fired but use a qualified OFTEC installer.
There are so many options available for oil boilers for all applications and they are so efficient and are exempt at the moment for having to be condensing.
