i remember seeing on tv a while back, a house in holland which had a green toilet system with transparent pipes running down the walls.
i think it used a lot less water, and probably collected rainwater and there was a water recycling element to the whole process.
does anyone know what i'm talking about?

i only mention it as i wonder if there are enough "green" things a plumber could install to be able to legitimately advertise as being a "green plumber".
e.g.: a "green" electrician could specialise in solar panel installation and stuff like that..?

any thoughts anyone?

You wouldn't want to see my toilet connected to transparent pipes after I've had a curry or a chilli.

A local housing group has just opened the first eco friendly housing estate today, strangly enough. Something about the toilets only use rain water, solar panels etc. I might go and have a looksee next week.

Whilse Molecule may have no practical experience of plumbing I am not sure that he should advertise himself as a "green" plumber !

As far as John's local estate is concerned, I dont see how they could have got enough water to flush WCs during our last summer.

I have seen a rainwater cistern that had a primary rainwater ballvalve and a secondary mains ballvalve. I suppose there must be a pressure activated switch to turn on the mains supply when needed.

Never installed one.

The toilet pan was probaly a ifo, from Sweden they flush with 4 litres.

I install rainwater recycling systems more plumbers should, look at www.rainharvesting.co.uk these are the systems I use, you can see how easy they are to install, I also install thermal and PV solar, most electrician do not install the panels, as they do not want the roof work, this is the way forward for good installers, get into energy efficiency installations now, before your competitors do
