This is the wastewater from wash basins, showers, baths, washing machines etc. Not waste as from WC's but still not clean water. However it can be re-used.

Previously the Self-sufficiency brigade thought they were doing well by re-routing their water onto their land via Heath Robinson irrigation systems.
However due to contaminants in the water - detergents, hair etc. this leads eventually to very poor soil condition, and makes clay laden soils very heavy and unworkable.

A lot more is now known about managing Greywater.
