Probably the best source for this and related topics are the centre for alternative Technology in Machynlleth, in West Wales. The Centre's 40-acre site has working examples of wind, water and solar power, energy conservation; environmentally sound buildings, SelfBuild, organic growing and alternative sewage systems.
