This is in simple terms a large underground container into which all the waste from the house discharges. There is no intent to treat or discharge and its function is simply to collect waste. This is then emptied, usually by the local council. Due to the fact that these have to contain all the waste from the house, the size of these can be considerable and the frequency of emptying can mean a lot of expense. They are typically only used where ground conditions or local watercourses prevent the use of a Septic Tank.
